It’s been a while, friends.
Towards the end of my pregnancy, I thought I’d never find joy in picking up a camera again. I was so obsessed with nesting and cleaning and sewing and baking that I felt like a million other hobbies had pushed photography to the furthest most recesses of my mind.
Things didn’t change when Pippa was born: I was still reluctant to lift my heavy DSLR. “Oh, the effort…!” I thought to myself. After all, the iPhone was lighter, easier, provided instant gratification and offered much needed companionship those wee hours of the morning when I was up feeding the Pippster. For a moment I was worried that my little phone would replace my expen$$$ive camera forever, and I envisioned showing up to future sessions with my iPhone and Olloclip: “Ready for some photography action, guys?!” I’m sure my clients would’ve loved that. :)
However, I needn’t have worried. The spark that I thought was long gone was quickly reignited the minute this session took place. Really, I couldn’t have asked for a more lovely family to meet and photograph on my first foray back into the “real world” post-maternity leave. Maria and Andy and their gorgeous little girl were happy and excited, and made me feel as if I hadn’t had a rusty five month absence! I left the session feeling as excited as I did after my very first shoot all those (three) years ago.
I’m so grateful to you three. Thank you for making me feel so excited again… Words can’t describe my elation in getting my photo-groove back. :) And we couldn’t have asked for a more glorious winter’s day, hey? :) xoxo
