I’ve been lucky to have such amazing friends in my life. And over the past four months, I’ve become quite close with a number of new friends, all thanks to Jesh De Rox and his life-changing Life {As An Artform} workshop. One of the people that I’ve become great friends with is Dan O’Day, an immensely talented wedding photographer here in Canberra. I’ve written about him before, and how inspiring I find his work, his charm and his talent. So it pleases me to announce that we are working on starting a wedding biz, collaborating our ideas and thoughts and inspiring one another (him inspiring me more than vice versa). :) We’re in the beginning phases of this collaboration, and he’s taken it upon himself to mentor me and allow me to come along to his weddings to second shoot for him, in order to gain more experience and get to know each other.
Needless to say, this is quite an exciting period in my life. It’s an amazing way to learn and cultivate a passion for wedding photography, as well as shadow someone I really admire as a person and as a photographer. But, I should note that children and family photography will remain a priority for me: I just adore my family sessions and the connections I make with all of my clients too much to ever give it up! In order to maintain my first passion + love, I will only be taking on a limited number of wedding commissions per year with this new venture (the new business name will be announced shortly, once the website is all up and running!).
Phew. Big news, right? :) On with the photos of Dan’s latest wedding couple, the stunning Lisa and her handsome husband, Clint (yay for “Clint’s”!!), whose wedding I had the privilege of second shooting. Congratulations again, beautiful newlyweds, and best wishes for a happy and love-filled marriage! :)
On our drive back home, Dan pulled over to take some photos of the scenery – an artist at work! Needed to capture him doing his thang… on the side of the highway… nearly getting killed.
