This wedding will forever have a warm, fuzzy, wonderful place in my heart. All of my brides + grooms have a special place in this Pobke heart, but this one in particular stretches beyond all boundaries. Why? Because Stephanie and Nick’s love flew me out all the way to Hartford, Connecticut, so that I could shoot their beautiful wedding (and surprise my parents with a stopover visit in Seattle along the way).
And every second of their beautiful wedding was absolutely worth the distance. Both of their gorgeous families so very welcoming, I felt as if I had married into their families as well!! So thank you, dear Toninos, for allowing me into your lives and into your homes for this very special occasion. Your wedding was ridiculously gorgeous, and no amount of rain could’ve ruined it!! It’s certainly a wedding I’ll never forget (officially my first destination wedding!) so thank you a million times over for giving me this opportunity.
Also, I have to give a special shout out to my amazing friend, Johnna, who flew all the way from Missouri to second shoot this wedding with me. What a blessing the internet has been – had it not been for Facebook, I’d have never met Johnna: officially the world’s best second shooter ever . :) Thanks for coming all the way up to CT to experience this with me, J! See you at the Sarah Rhoads Workshop in November! :)
PS To all those who’ve enquired about the gorgeous bride’s dress: Yes, it’s custom made. Yes, it’s 100 percent silk. Yes, it’s ridiculously beautiful. (See more of Chrissy Wai-Ching’s dresses here.)

Meet Caitlin, one of my all time fave besties. We’ve been friends since our freshmen year at Whitman College, and have watched each other grow and evolve from crazy-party-girls-extraordinaire who loved keggers, house parties, frat boys and townies, to responsible-mature-well-respectable-ladies who love classy things like wine and cheese and anthropologie and our husbands. :) Don’t worry though – when we get together, a pitcher of PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon, the classiest of classy beers) is not too far away, and stories of our wild college days are always reminisced (much to the amusement of our husbands).
That’s the thing about besties: you can live half a world away, and still reunite once a year and truly treasure every minute spent. I treasured every second of my shoot with Caitlin and her wonderful husband Randall while in Seattle recently. It was not only special because I love them both so much, but because it was on their last day of living in Seattle before they embarked on their new adventure together: a move to Los Angeles, where Mr Randall is enrolling in medical school. Yes, that’s right: it’s DR Randy from now on!! :)
C + R: I love you both and miss you terribly. Hope the drive down was scenic and peaceful, and I can’t wait to hear all about your adventures as Californians! Don’t get too Valley on me now! :) xoxo

At long last, the time has come to say goodbye to my wonderful family and beautiful friends in Seattle. The gorgeous wedding that brought me out to the States has come and gone (it was a magical wedding to say the least, and I can’t wait to show you all the photos! Especially of the dress. Oh my. For a peek, have a look here).
It’s a bittersweet farewell (as most goodbyes are) and it’s safe to say that I’ve met some of the warmest, loveliest, huggiest, talented, most awesome people in my short visit to the Pacific Northwest. I do know, however, that kindred spirits are to meet again and again and again, so with that in mind, I’m happy to say goodbye to my friends temporarily. :)
So before I head to bed one last time in my parent’s home in Seattle, I share with you this love session of one of my most favourite couples ever and two of many new kindred spirits I’ve had the pleasure of befriending during my time here. Chris and Sarah, I shall see you in November in Canberra. I can’t hardly wait. :) Thanks for allowing me + Dan into your lives. We absolutely loved loved loved photographing you both. :)
