My name is Christine Pobke and I’ve been
photographing children + families since April 2009, and shooting weddings since March 2010. In the short time that I’ve
been full-time (September 2010), I’ve grown my business to also include mentoring, my first photography retreat, and several international travel assignments. I’m currently the 2011 Act AIPP Epson Emerging Photographer of the Year [Runner-Up], and have won
numerous industry awards both nationally as well as internationally, including: Silver Distinctions at the Canon AIPP Print
Awards, WPPI Awards of Excellence, a Finalist at the Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize, a Top 25 Children’s Photographer Finalist in the Canon Creative Asia Photography Awards, and Silver Distinction Awards at the ACT Epson print awards. I’ve also been invited
to several speaking engagements throughout the year, including a seminar for the ACT AIPP, as well as at Queensland AIPP’s annual Hair of the Dog Conference.
I live in Canberra, Australia with my darling Aussie hubby (affectionately referred to as “He-Pobke”). We met over eight years ago
in Japan, where we both taught English on the JET Program. We are convinced fate wanted us to meet by placing us in neighboring villages. :) I moved from Seattle, Washington to Canberra to be closer to the He-Pobke, and thought we’d be “stuck” here for just a year or so… but I guess we fell in love with the place because I’m now approaching my sixth anniversary of being a Canberran! :)
Together we spend most evenings cooking, watching TV shows (West Wing,Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, Dexter),and planning our next travel getaways.
If there’s anything else you’re dying to know about me, please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email! I can be reached at

Pobke Magic is a comprehensive, awesomely fun, intimate (capped at 12) one day workshop aimed at photographers seeking to develop their existing portrait + wedding photography businesses. It’s a workshop that provides an overview of the craft and the business of photography, from the fundamentals of shooting and understanding light and interacting with your clients, to pricing, marketing, and growing your business.
Throughout the course of the day, you’ll not only develop your creative mind + shooting skills, you’ll meet other like-minded photographers from around Australia and further develop your own network.
We’ll cover topics such as:
// The importance of marketing + brand management and how to make social media work for you
// Pricing psychology (with examples from my own collections)
// Client expectations and a run through from the shoot to the sale
// How to interact with clients, shoot, edit and make the most of your workflow
// Being productive and making the best use of your time
// Balancing family and work and you
There will be a no holds barred Q+A to go over all of your questions, so I’ll definitely be encouraging you to ask away! :)
Workshops are a beautiful way of exploring all areas of your business, and it will, no doubt, instigate a number of questions when you get home. For this reason, following the Pobke Magic workshop, you’ll be entitled to a 30 minute one-on-one follow up Skype session. This isn’t mandatory; it’s simply for those who want a bit more time asking questions they couldn’t ask during the workshop, or one they just thought of when they got home!
